Mixing old with New. Contrasting traditional architecture with modern decor to create excitement and an element of the unexpected.
Mallorca is a Spanish island full of unique traditions, historic architecture, breathtaking scenery contrasted with turquoise beaches, wild sunsets, beautiful vineyards, friendly people and tasty local food. This place will honestly steal your heart!
There is something for everyone with so many beautiful spots to visit and activities to do that it’s a great destination to celebrate a wedding as most of your guests will instantly feel a connection with the island.
The wedding venue where we created this inspirational photoshoot is a typical Mallorcan farmhouse full of history that will surprise your wedding guests as many of us can’t resist the charm of historic architecture complimented by beautiful modern design.
The wedding reception in this photoshoot use to be a water cistern in the 16th century and stored the water for the correct use of the entire farm. In 2010, the owners renovated this area of the farm by opening the front wall of the cistern and created this magical space where you can have a long reception table with up to 70 people.
In this inspiration, we mixed the old architecture of the traditional farm house with a modern wedding style led by earthy dark colors used in the tableware from Pack and Things and flower design created by Deblanc. Colors such as terra cottas, oranges, mochas, very dark browns, blacks, golds to create a moody and warm ambience. This contrast of the traditional architecture with modern earthy decor instantly created excitement and an element of the unexpected.
The ceremony decor is modern and simple to create a timeless clean look. We wanted to showcase our star element which is the gothic arches of the room that are then followed on to the ceremony structure with a rose gold color to simulate a romantic terra cotta feel with pampas grass for a light modern feel.
The reception decor was designed to leave everyone with their jaw wide open, that WOW factor we all love to feel. With the fairy lights we created a warm and magical ambiance and by adding the dark terracotta tablecloths combined with black glassware and cutlery we created a moody feel. The shape of the gold and black cutlery and the raffia placemats give the look a current style.
The winter fruit added all along the reception table contributes richness and texture. In our design work we always work with different textures and take advantage of this as it creates direct visual interest.
The first thing that comes to mind when you think of a wedding in Mallorca is an outside wedding and we wanted to showcase what you can do with the venues that we have on the island in the winter or if you have bad weather on your big day. There are venues on the island that are simply perfect to say ‘I do’ inside.
